Super League

Rugby

In March 1996, the Super League became the only full-time professional rugby league football club competition in the northern hemisphere. As of 2007, automatic promotion or relegation from Super League were eliminated, and new teams are admitted on a franchise basis, with the franchise starting in 2009. Until 2003, no prize was awarded to the top finishing team. In 2003, the League Leader's Shield was introduced with the winning team, the Bradford Bulls, as its first recipients.
